IN A great show of teamwork the Canberra Capitals romped home against the Perth Lynx last night in the Women's National Basketball League with a 104?37 win.

Capitals star centre Lauren Jackson was once more the game's top scorer with 22 points, however guard Kristen Veal was not far behind on 19.

Veal was always in control during the match, calmly putting away five three-pointers from six attempts, much to the enthusiastic crowd's delight.

The Capitals were expected to win against the Lynx, who linger on the bottom of the table, having won none of their 18 matches this season.

Capitals coach Carrie Graf said the Capitals head into this week on a positive note, as they prepare for next weekend, when they play two matches, including one against competition leaders, Dandenong.

"While Lauren struggled tonight in putting the ball into the net, it was a good team effort. It's a huge weekend for us next weekend and it's hard to use this match in preparation as Dandenong play a very different game to Perth.

"This week we will be getting ready to play a big team again and trying to get ourselves that full intensity you need. Dandenong are one hell of an opponent."

Jackson also commented on the team effort put in by the Capitals.

"I didn't have a great game; I'm still coming into my own," she said. "However, all the girls really put in a big effort, it was a team game tonight."

With five games to go until the finals, Jackson said she remained confident Canberra could finish on top of the table.

Perth struggled to get past Canberra's defence and were pulled up for many 30-second violations as a result.

Perth's field goal percentage was just under 28 per cent, compared to Canberra's 48 per cent.
