Lauren Jackson to be the spokesperson for Canberra's tallest residential tower
Lauren Jackson has achieved more in her short career than most athletes dream of achieving in their lifetime. At the tender age of 22 she has taken the basketball world by storm, following her string of successes in Australia by carving out a career in the tough, competitive world of American professional basketball.
Selected as the most valuable player in the American WNBA in September this year, there's no doubt that Lauren has the world at her feet. This, in addition to the fact that she is extraordinarily tall, makes her the perfect person to draw attention to the special qualities of Sky Plaza - Woden Town Centre's first high rise residential development and one that will offer the world to its residents.
Lauren was Australian Rookie of the Year in 1997 and just two years later was awarded the Australian WNBL Most Valuable Player.
She won a Silver Medal with the Australian Opals at the Sydney Olympics, was selected to play with the Seattle Storm in the United States and made the WNBA All-Star Team in her first US season. In Australia, Lauren led the Canberra TransACT Capitals to successive WNBL Grand Final victories.
On 15 September this year, Lauren was named WNBA Most Valuable Player. She is the youngest ever to receive the award, the first to do so without participating in the playoffs and first international player voted MVP by US sportswriters & broadcasters.
Now acclaimed as the 'World's Best Female Basketballer', Lauren is currently in Canberra for the 2003/2004 season and will be making appearances in the Sky Plaza television commercial and advertising material, as well as other promotional work for the new development.
