Junior Basketball
Thursday, 5 June 2003

Team coaches are to be reminded that all players must have equal time off the court. The skills clinic that was held last Sunday and was run by Blake Lowrey from NSW Basketball was enjoyed and was found beneficial from only a small amount of children.

The children that do attend these clinics benefit greatly.

There is so much that can be learnt at clinics and any one person can never know too much.

There will be another basketball clinic to be held in the next week or so. Anthony Petrie and Sarah Berry will run the clinic, there will be further details.

Please parents try to get the children to this clinic as it will be of a great benefit to them, and we are fortunate that they are sparing their time to do this for Tenterfield juniors.

Anthony plays for the Canberra Gunners which are the leading team at the moment in the South East Australian Basketball League and he has represented Australia in the Oceanic Games which was held in Tonga and he also played in China representing the Junior Sydney Kings Development Program.

Sarah plays in the Women's National Basketball League for the Canberra Capitals, which are the regaining 2002-2003 Premiers, Sarah plays on the same team as Lauren Jackson.

During 2002 Sarah was a member of the Australian U23's Sapphire Squad. During October this year Sarah was heading off to Russia to play in the FIBA World Club Championships that is where the Canberra Capitals team will compete against the best clubs from each women's basketball conferences from around the world.

Both Anthony and Sarah were selected to represent Australia in the World University Games in South Korea during August of this year but withdrew due to health risks in South Korea.
