Jackson inspires Storm to win over Fever

SEATTLE

AUSTRALIAN forward Lauren Jackson scored 20 points to lead the Seattle Storm to victory over Indiana Fever 78-51 last night.

It was the third straight win for Seattle (3-3), which used a balanced offence to pull away midway through the first half en route to a season-high point total.

Three Storm players scored in double figures and all but one scored at least two points.

Jackson, who was named WNBA player of the week earlier, posted her third straight 20-point game, making nine of 12 shots, including two of three 3-pointers.

Despite turning in three solid performances after a shaky start, Jackson insists she has not found her groove yet.

The third-year player said better play from her teammates makes her look good.

"I haven't played that great," Jackson said.

"I'm doing all right. As a team we're great."

Seattle also dominated the Fever (2-2) with a stiff defensive effort. The Storm held Indiana to a franchise-low 18 first-half points.

"They played extremely good defence," Indiana coach Nell Fortner said.

"We had a stretch in the first half where we had five turnovers in a row ... we just didn't have any momentum after that."

The Storm cruised in the second half and Indiana never got closer than 16.

Australian Sandy Brondello added 11 points for Seattle and Kamila Vodichkova had 10.

Tamika Catchings and Stephanie White had 13 points each for Indiana.
