Canberra Capitals Baskets For The Bush
Media Release - Wednesday December 4, 2002

The Canberra TransACT Capitals will lend their basketball skills to some of Australia’s most influential female politicians to help raise funds for Farmhand.

Deputy Labor leader Jenny Macklin and a team of Labor women are in training to take on Coalition MPs and staff, led by Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister Jackie Kelly, in a basketball match next week to raise funds for the Farmhand appeal for drought-stricken farmers.

Members of Canberra’s TransACT Capitals, including star Lauren Jackson, will play on both teams.

The match has the support of Farmhand, the Women’s National Basketball League and TransACT.

In preparation for the match on Monday, December 9, members and Senators will gather tomorrow, Wednesday, December 4, at 11.30am at Telopea Park High School for a training session with the Canberra Transact Capitals.
