Canberra Capitals Caps cruise into 2nd!
Media Release - Monday December 9, 2002

The Canberra TransACT Capitals picked up both games of their weekend road double to Melbourne, defeating Bulleen on Saturday night and Dandenong on Sunday afternoon. This put them into second place on the WNBL ladder but the wins came at a cost.

TransACT Capitals star Lauren Jackson fell badly in the game against Dandenong and returned to Canberra last night with her face badly swollen. Visits to the doctor today and tomorrow will reveal if Jackson has done any serious damage.

On Saturday the TransACT Capitals will host the Perth Lynx in Canberra’s first home game in almost a month. The Canberra fans are sure to be out in force for their fix of TransACT Capitals magic. The game will tip off at 7.30pm at Southern Cross Stadium, Tuggeranong.

Saturday night will also see Canberra participate in the “Baskets for the Bush” appeal to raise money for draught relief in rural Australia. The Canberra TransACT Capitals helped raise over $2,000 today as they lent their skills towards a game featuring female politicians; Labour versus Liberal. For the record, Labour won the game 51-50.

Fans at the game will have the opportunity to donate toward this worthy cause.
