The Canberra TransACT Capitals will continue their season as normal despite the demise yesterday of their NBL counterparts, the Canberra Cannons.
The TransACT Capitals financial and administrative aspects are run separately from the Cannons although the two teams were partners in the One Basketball Canberra concept.
“It’s a sad day for Canberra’s basketball fans” said TransACT Capitals star Lauren Jackson. “It’s sad to see a foundation club go under like this and our thoughts and best wishes for the future are with the Cannons and their families.”
Kids watch the Caps for Free!
The Canberra TransACT Capitals are joining the Smith Family in raising toys for their annual Christmas Wishing Tree Appeal. At wishing trees all around Australia, people can leave a gift for underprivileged children and help brighten an otherwise bleak festive season.
At Friday night’s game against the Sydney Flames, any child that brings a toy for the TransACT Capitals giving tree will get into the game for free!
