Canberra Capitals TransACT Capitals face home team in do or die game!

The Canberra TransACT Capitals are due to face Russian home team Volgaburmash SGAU Samara in a do or die match. Both Volgaburmach and the TransACT Capitals are on one win and one loss in Group B, a win is a must if either team wants to contest for a medal.

Volgaburmash SGAU Samara are the Russian Vice-Champions with an impressive line up which includes 1999 WNBA Rookie of the Year and three time WNBA All-Star Five Chamique Holdsclaw and WNBA and Russian International Maria Stepanova. A team known for their physical size and hard nose play will prove to be a challenge for our TransACT Capitals as well as seeing former Phoenix Mercury team mates Kristen Veal and Maria Stepanova face each other on opposing teams.

While the TransACT Capitals are competing in Group B, competition for the top spot in Group A is about to hit an exciting climax. With both the WNBA Select Team and Russian team UMMC Ekaterinbourg both recording two wins and no defeats, tonight's game between the two teams is sure to demonstrate just how good women's basketball can be. The winner of this match is sure to be seen as the favourites to win this years competition.

Tonight's game between the Canberra TransACT Capitals and Volgaburmash SGAU Samara will be played at midnight AEST. After tonight's match the TransACT Capitals will receive a much deserved day off to prepare for the finals starting on Saturday.
