Canberra Capitals Veal shines for Caps in weekend split!
Media Release - Monday 24 November 2003

The Canberra TransACT Capitals walked away from this last weekend with one win and one loss.
Friday night saw a tough match against the improving Australian Institute of Sport with Canberra winning 65-58. Kristen Veal led the way for the Caps with 21 points and 7 rebounds and showed great leadership guiding the "Jackson-less" TransACT Capitals to victory. Jo Hill had 19 points and 9 rebounds and captain Lucille Bailie had 17 points.

Saturday’s assignment was much tougher with the team travelling to face an experienced and in form Adelaide Lightning. The home team took the win, defeating Canberra 70-55. Again it was Kristen Veal with 21 points and Jo Hill with 12 points that kept the Caps in the hunt.

The weekend’s results see the TransACT Capitals move from first place to third place behind Adelaide and Dandenong. This weekend Canberra travels to Townsville to face the out of form Fire. Even without Jackson, this is a game Canberra can win with Townsville languishing in second last with only 3 wins from 9 games.
