Media Release - Tuesday 27 January 2004

With one weekend left in the ‘Price Attack’ WNBL regular season the Canberra TransACT Capitals will be playing for a spot in the playoffs. Two wins this weekend will see Canberra finish 2nd. Two losses could see them out of the playoffs for the first time in 4 years.

The much anticipated ‘Record Breaker’ game at the AIS Arena is on this Friday night as the TransACT Caps host the Townsville Fire. The Fire has slipped to third place on the ‘Price Attack’ WNBL ladder. The winner of this game will get the split and the advantage if both teams finish with the same win/loss record. Both teams currently have 12 wins and seven losses and both teams have two games this weekend.

Saturday night Canberra travels to Sydney to take on the Sydney Uni Flames. The Flames currently sit in 5th place and must win if they are to keep their finals dream alive.

In preparation for their ‘Record Breaker’ game, the TransACT Capitals will be training at the AIS Arena tonight from 5pm – 7pm and Thursday night from 5pm – 6.30pm. A very special guest will join the Caps tonight. Legendary Australian shooter Eddie Palubinskas will be on hand to pass on some shooting tips. Palubinskas is famous for teaching NBA Superstar Shaqille O’Neil to shoot free throws.
