Canberra Capitals Caps have the long road to the top!
Media Release - Tuesday 3 February 2004

For the first time in five seasons the Canberra TransACT Capitals have failed to finish in the top two at the end of the ‘Price Attack’ WNBL season.
They now face three must-win games if they are to score their third successive championship and their fourth in five years.

Saturday night’s loss to the Sydney Uni Flames saw Canberra tumble from second to fourth. They must now win on the road to snatch the championship. Friday night will the Caps travel to Adelaide to face their old nemesis, the Lightning. In 1999/2000 Canberra went to Adelaide and won the Grand Final. This time it’s the second semi, but it shares all the importance of the 99/00 final.

The TransACT Capitals trump card is that Adelaide have not played against Lauren Jackson this season. Jackson was injured for all three of the Adelaide – Canberra match ups during the regular season. You can be guaranteed that Jackson will want to put on a show in front of her Australian Opals coach and coach of the Lightning, Jan Stirling.

A win for Canberra will see them through to the elimination final against the loser of the Dandenong-Sydney game, also on Friday night.
A loss will see the Caps miss their first Grand Final in five years.
